No, i don't write much. Why? live by myself - am only twelve months here at this location. No friends, wives, or family who have physically 'followed' me for the past ten years or so. Been a constant companion.
Apart from this one ..
Oh, would you believe that i have thousands of "pics" of everything else ... and she's not in them?
I do have pics of her ... but apparently have never established a "folder" exclusively for her.
Might take a while to find them all and give her DUE as a constant companion.
Have, of course, been chatting 'offline' with dog owners ... and the subject is extremely complex.
Do i talk to her? Of course i do. The tricky subject is - does she talk to me.
At this point would say (write) that Yep; she 'communicates' with me.
The gentle paw on my knee (for no reason that i can discern). The tap on my shoulder at 3AM (which am interpreting as "I wanna go outside to pee" )....... but there is much more to her "body language".
There are times when she sits, and, from my point of comprehension - looks at me with her placid brown eyes ... and tries to articulate with her tongue and throat. Cannot describe the sounds that she makes ... gr.. kgr .. agr ....
Which sort of brings me back to some previous posts about "language".
Can we really define "intelligence" by language?
I watch her 'off leash' interact with other canines. She begins with cautious 'tail in air'.
(and please - do not cut the tail from canines, bit like removing the tongue from humans).
Random and inconsistent snippets from an unstructured mind. My truth may not be your truth. A fact is a fact only by standing on it. It can't fall down, there is nothing holding it up... Except some sort of capitalist exploitation. The writer is a 3rd generation Indigenous Australian. Not, i might add, Aboriginal - two different concepts.

a visit to the pub
Did, actually, stand in the bar of a local 'public house'. Not something that i normally do. The price of alcohol is beyond my budget ..... stood, listened to real people, young people ... a very young boy playing with his iPhone? - mother discussing what to do with young boys, husband looking bemused, but patient.
What's the word .. millenials?? .... was fascinated ... have no actual, or direct experience of "family life" as a "grandfather".
Stood, was fascinated, then bought a few more beers. Wavered, then decided that alcohol is not good for my lower leg stability, or minuscule budget ... wandered off home.
(might also be fudging the anecdote a bit .... heh).

Hello again
Not dead yet.
Forgot how to sign in to this blog .... aaaaah... ancient history.
And no, haven't transferred my communications into some other "easy" technology.
Mostly about wandering the neighborhood saying hello to strangers - IN REAL LIFE!
gha.
Have many photos. If it's important, will post them, if asked..Or Not
There are always 'shags on a rock' somewhere on this planet ... meh
Cheers, David.

Remembrace of Blogger past
Um, this is interesting. Apparently was "signed out" of this blog (hanging about since 2005 - well before Gurgle and its billion dollar algorithms acquired the rights ...).
However, remain alive - and - while legs are appendages that allow me to wander about, sit astride and in control of a motor cycle .. and remain capable of "kicking" - my mind and attitude, now, can't be bothered.
Much.
As of now have to cope with a neighbor who calls me a 'dickhead'.
So, what does that actually mean - coming from a 25 year old who everyone else around here, as far as they tell me, think of him as "20 cents short of a dollar" (vernacular for a bit dim in the head).
Perhaps the the most galling part of this from my point of view - is that he tells me that he has 'bought' a slim sliver of land - one sliver of Crown land away from where i live.
How he and his partner are going to manage to feed 5 horses, 2 sheep, and two dogs on it defeats even my experiencial logic. Especially since the 'plot of land' is apparently too small to even build a house on.
This, of course, has a 'back story'. So far they, and their stock, have eaten every "free" blade of grass around here; have been locked out of at least one Crown Land paddock ...
And this moron calls ME a dickhead ... ?
On the other hand - there is a whisper in the wind that my landlords have decided to sell this cottage that have lived in (and loved) for 5 and a half years ....
Sooo, once a Gypsy, always a Gypsy - i guess.
Will, of course, update my one or two readers - if and when -
Sumbuddy tells me sumfink.
Apart from that - you know as much as i do ..... heh.

Almost breaking news
Have booked my connection to the "fixed wireless" version of the NBN (National Broadband Network).
Will not happen until the end of this month. Will be interested to see whether "promises are fulfulled" -
And what it will mean for this blog.

Is it all worth it ...
I wonder. What have i done, what have i achieved? What remains to be done.
It is, perhaps, easier for those with Family. Children. I have none - well one, a son ...
Fruit of my loins. Has a genetic history stretching back to Lincolnshire circa 1580. With many twists and turns though several countries - even has a sort of famous (G,G,G, uncle). How many boys can claim that? And yet, and yet .... he refuses to acknowlege me. A "father" i never was, but AM his sire.
Did i do something "wrong"? Self thinks not - but the fact remains - he never experienced what is now touted as a "real" family. A mum, dad, 2.5 children, brick veneer home with white picket fence. Perhaps a dog, cat , half a dozen hamsters ... mice under the floorboards. Harvey Normal furniture and a 42 inch plasma TV screen.
What he was born into, was a Mum, Dad - both a bit 'theatrical' (hey, it was past the 'swinging 60's and into the 'revolutionary' 70's). Um, his Mum's father was a rather strict, Calvinist, school Headmaster .... which made things sort of difficult. Oddly enough, i really liked my 'Mother-in-law', A blackhead Celt from way back. Have no idea how a 'strict Pom' and a 'rebellious Celt' stayed together for so long. 5 children.
So, my wife (the eldest) was born in Singapore, i liked her, she married me. One son.
Yes, i know, complicated. My own immediate family?
Mother was third child of a country blacksmith. Father was .... not really sure; never knew him.
Know his "history" - but he died in 1945; six months after i was born. O yes, mother and father married long before that .... but have often wondered why.
My father's family were, actually, quite "well off" in Adelaide .. Tooraky sort of people - educated, with servants and stuff..
So, cutting a longish story short - has left me with a sort of wonder as to who i should be; how i should behave - or simply be "independent" and 'make it up' as i go along.
Now, at my age, it's sort of scary.

discarding awkward canines.
Yer, well,
she was a "captain's pick" in the sense that she was already a neighbour's 'problem canine'.
So, cutting a long story short - after 12 months - had to "re-locate" her to the Orange RSPCA.
Choices? of course - she either ended up dead down a mineshaft ...
.. or i gave her other chances.

Diminishing into the mysts of his story
Odd, really. Sitting here on a Saturday night, with far too many cut crystal glasses from Chateu Cardborde pondering the misses, Ms, and Mrs who have shared the various times of my lives. The shards of shattered dreams and ambitions.
Was it all worth it, i ask myself. Did they enjoy it as much as i did - or was it all simply an egotistical waste of time.

A puzzle
I will publish this this morning, since have been sitting by the warm and cosy wood heater playing with the "speech recognition" software on the laptop. It is a "collaborative" effort between me and the computer - but will leave it up to the reader to figure out the relative contribution between 'silicon chip' programming; and the "fuzzy logic" of human thought. The North East wind a blows
And shows, that whether the weather
Will change, or range
Across the continents
Of world sentiments;
In and whether the end of four or more
Will grow in the mind of new meander full
neanderthal.
Flat earth mind We'll find All of a kind.
The changing times remind
Other bygone ages rages of saviours save you
sages; ancient philosophers have got no
Warm-now, for more than four Martin, forgotten.
Noah saw the writing on the wall and took used by road
To ararat Arafat Palestine holyrood his brood.
Animals to buy two, or one, or a dozen
Frozen in one, boiled elsewhere. Four square.
When planner dark is flooded with CEO two
Where will we take the Arc.

WARNING
At this point
DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM ALDI that has a 'computer' disk.
At this point am discovering aberrations.
UPDATE: 30 Aug 2014.
Ok, a smidge more detail. Am a "toy" junkie. Anything interesting less than $50 is fair game ... heh.
So, saw a Maginon USB microscope for $49-00. Thought ah, what the heck.
Brief description is that it is plastic, very much a toy. Comes with a "computer disc" and USB cable. Cannot operate independently. My problem began when tried to 'play' the disc into my Win 7 Home premium laptop. Zilch, or rather, could hear disc trying something, brrrrm pause brmmmm pause ...but no response on the screen. Um, think i, something not happening. Cutting a long story short - did ring the 1800 'help' number, was sent email with link to 'driver'. Um, 650Mb download - my satellite 'connection' estimated 48 hours. UM.
Do, however, still have a Dell underdesk 'box' with Win XP. Tried that - no problem. Installation screen popped up almost immediately.
So, if anyone has recently purchased this item from ALDI - find a grandpa who still remembers Windows XP ... heh.

smidge update (with pics)
Um, there seems to be some sort of perception from at least one of my readers that am some sort of 'wobbly' alcoholic.
Dunno what this set of pics actually "prove" ... but have been carefully chosen ... heh.
On the other hand ...
... it could be argued that am not always incompetently inebriated, and sort of know what am doing - which in no way precludes the fact that i may well, on occasion, 'choose' to become completely inebriated.
Which prompts another thought. Is it better to become "competently" inebriated .... or to merely become 'incompentently' inebriated? Must ponder that philosophical problem.
In the mean time ...
Has been a bit chilly up this way. Do have some snow pics from Friday 18th last month - also from the rather beautiful 10cm that dusted the locality last Friday night (1-2 Aug 2014) ... but is becoming so 'usual' and 'boring' that haven't bothered to traipse around the locality, camera in hand.
What IS important is not the snow, but the fact that while the overnight temperatures of between -1C and -5C. Tends to turn the backyard mud into ice - remain ALIVE .... buuuut, not enough to freeze the local ponds; can't ski, can't skate. Damn, wish the weather and climate would "make up its mind"!
Anyhooo - some interest and fun can be found pottering around the local bushland finding firewood.

Sheesh, backtracking my own archives
Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot most of
the time, which produced an impressive set of calluses on
his feet. He also ate very little, which made him rather
frail and with his odd diet, he suffered from bad breath.
This made him ?..
A super-calloused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis.

Yer, i know - have a very peculiar sense of humour. And dammit, for my American readers - is "humour" ...that includes the "you"! Same as 'honour', and 'colour' - 'you', and me are actually included in those words.
If not - who knows where the dictators will lead?????
Grrrrrr.

erk, real life person
ERK! a real life person arrived on my doorstep today, on crutches!!..
Wanted to play 'chess' .. even brought his own 'real life' board and pieces.
"We're not allowed to discuss politicians or philosophy" he sez,
"OK", say i, no problem.
He won that first game ..... mainly because it has been 30 or so years wandering this rather extra-ordinary Island Continent - engagaging and conversing with the populace ...
.. and it was somewhat astonishing to recently find a local who actually understands the history and concepts of the - one on one - human; board game "Chess".

How valuable is a human heart
Ok, will be honest - this is a 'teaser'. Just wanted to say that a friend of mine experienced - in my house - a serious, medical "heart problem" at roughly 4pm yesterday.
All am prepared to say, at this point - is that can only thank the 000 personnel, as well as the Bathurst and Lithgow 'ambo's' for a result that is - as far as i know - positive.
Will stress - friend of mine, not me.
Details will emerge later.

cats and mouses
Ok, i DO get to read the 'comments' on this blog - whether or not am able to access the 'dashboard' - and respond in that box.
Have to say that the "quality" of comments has deteriorated somewhat.
So, let me say that the anony "mouse" is not me. While yes, have used the "anonymous" option when have lost my password to this blog (or changed and forgotten it) but will always 'identify' myself - either Davo or Davoh - as the author.
It seems to be rather pathetic that some wimpy people seem to feel the need to make disparaging comments about other people - and use this blog's comment box as a vehicle. Very sad state of affairs (on the other hand, Gerry hasn't fought back in full fury response in the comment section of this blog .. yet).
It seems to me that those who use gutter and sewage attitudes are not worth the bother, I won't delete it ... just let it stand or fall by its own worth.
What annoys me, specifically, is that the author has not the courage, guts, to claim it - and identify him/herself.
So, having said that - I have, personally, met Gerry - several times. He is not 'afraid' of personal contact - and, from my point of view, he is held in higher esteem than some twit who makes 'comments' "anonymously".
[and while am 'at it', for information .. have also met, personally, in real life Link; at "Bless the Weather" - but, as far as am aware, these are the only two from the "blogosphere" that am aware of as "real human beings"].

Sydney on Sunday
Am fairly sure that quite a lot of people consider me to be quite mad mentally unstable a somewhat isolated alcoholic eccentric. It has, actually, been quite a while since I've had a chance (or incentive, or spare finance) to have a look and see what the "Big Smoke", or large group of "normal" people - is like so, after due thought and consideration, have decided to catch the train to Sydney on Sunday,
