Have heard it said that 'no news is good news' and, since i don't have TV, very rarely drive into the nearest town to get the "news" papers - have little idea of what's happening in the 'wider' world apart from what i hear on the radio (and peeks at the interwebs). So, will just post some pics of the 'little people' in the vicinity. Have no idea what their 'full', 'accurate', family names are. They've all been around a lot longer than self. Visitors to my house. Pax.

I like this kind of news! :)
I think we'd happily hear all their doings each night, no worries ;)
Ah, Jayne, have just read "The Shipping News" - E. Annie Proulx.
Love her prose style. Might see if i can emulate it .. heh [but don't hold yer breath].
We have things that look similar to that lanky fellow with the question mark. My wife calls them mosquito eater, but who wouldn't eat a mosquito? I don't know if that is their actual name.
You made a comment on something I posted. Here it is: "heh." Believe it or not, that cracked me up.
.. and yes, today am sampling the "Irish Ale" homebrew [from Coopers, S.A.]. Only a week old, but hey, seems to have a bittuva kick in it.
Oy, JM, whaddya doing awake at your time of your morning?
Lying in the floor, drinking tea, petting my one-eyed geriatric dog, and reading blogs.
mm. OK (the words 'stop pestering me' sort of drifted through my addled mind .. but you'd have to know local situation about that reaction).
My canine is a teenager .. but she's more or less under control .. heh.
OK .. if i were to write a review of "The Shipping News" ....
Terse. Sparse. Evocative. Poetic.
Davo, I think the second picture from the bottom would be some sort of caddisfly. They sure do look like giant mosquitos, and they are related to each other, for sure.
The top marigold picture with question mark is some sort of moth... and the 2nd one on the marigolds would be a beetle. There are somewhere areound 50,000 beetles so you can take it from there :)
Ah, thankyou anon .. for the clues. was thinking caddisfly .. but ..
beetle? .. mm
Might have to call on the 'experts' around the traps to get full names.
.. and oy, can't remember mentioning marigolds, well noticed.
Hi -- oops, I meant cranefly, not caddisfly. It bugged me for a while and then I looked it up on google using the phrase, "looks like a huge mosquito" and voila.
Anonymous,
My wife calls them mosquito eaters. I just looked that up and it said it is a name for the crane fly.
I think that may be the answer.
Great photos Davo.
