"security" systems

OK, wifizone .. umm, fell over(yet again), refused me access, even though have paid for several more hours, so am now parked outside the local library - which, by the way has an "outdated" web security certificate. Wandered over and pointed that out to the lassie at the counter. She thought i was quite mad, perhaps i am.

Not to be competitive with madness, I was out driving this morning in my ancient car and I checked my speed and it said zero. Damn, I thought, the speedo packed up on the old Volvo too. I checked the mileometer. It didn't move either.

I carried on driving and checked later. Both instruments were doing something, albeit underestimating, I thought. Later still, everything was normal.

Now I am wondering what happened. Perhaps when I first checked, I was stopped at a traffic light. So speed = zero.

I can't decide whether the car's circuits are defective or mine, as in "senior moments". Twice it's happened in the last few years that my sense of years has gone phut. Didn't know what year it was or how old I was. And when I found out it didn't sound right, somehow.

And I hadn't touched a drop.
