Your Mom (or maybe your grandmother) will probably remember the wonderful humor of Eggbert and Eggberta – they were seen in a delightful series of books back in the 1960’s.
... or maybe your grandpa ....

.. but granpa thinks that they've become somehow "commercial" and lost the whimsical innocence.
I would suggest they are still relevant and would make a great gift for the expectant Mother.
BTW, I have never heard of them before now.
Not sure how my comment went anon.
I recall seeing some of them at times, pretty good.
Vestie - you're forgiven - vagaries of Gurgle's blogger .... heh.
Just to clarify a point - am not (yet) a "granpa". Do have a 35 year old son, but he seems dis-enclined to 'conjoin with females' far enough to 'continue my genetics'. Long story, i guess.
Yes, i came across the "Eggbert" booklets during the 1960's. Thought them wonderful; but they were, basically, "line drawings" (am hesitating to use the descriptive phase "black and white"). They were, basically, whimsical, from the point of view of an innocent; un-contaminated by prejudice or "social conditioning". There are, of course, many other "cartoons" which use that vehicle for 'social comment', but "society" has become rather more "complicated" since then.
