History repeats?

There is, somewhere, an aphorism that says something along the lines of  .. those who know not history are bound to repeat it..

The story of Hypatia

It's a sad story, one hopes that the "male traditions", "beliefs" emanating from the northern hemisphere "middle east",  haven't really "taken root" in a country like Australia .. a small, isolated continent below, and apart from, the knowledge and concept of "religious" "founding fathers" .. perhaps they have ... perhaps not ..

While yes, there may be a discussion revolving around the 'right' of "male" head of households stretching back before recorded time .. it ain't necessarily so. Depends on 'recorded' indoctrination.

The forces of Unclesamland are masters at failing where others have failed before, re Afghanistan, Indo China and Iraq for starters.
The Napoleon V Russia failure repeated by Germany.

Davo, if you think that the misogyny espoused by the bible is not already/still encoded into the Anglo-Saxon DNA of Australia, you have not learned much from history.

Hypatia was believed to be the cause of strained relations between Orestes, the Imperial Roman Prefect, and the Patriarch Cyril, thus she attracted the hatred of the Christians of Alexandria, who wanted the politician and the priest to reconcile. One day, in March AD 415, during Lent, a Christian mob of Nitrian monks led by "Peter the Reader," waylaid Hypatia's chariot as she travelled home.[27] The monks attacked Hypatia, then stripped her naked, to humiliate her, then dragged her through the streets to the recently Christianised Caesareum church, where they killed her. The reports suggest that the mob of Christian monks flayed her body with ostraca (pot shards), and then burned her alive:
Christian were no less cruel to their objectors than were the Muslims who arrived later - July 16 622, The obscene death riruals surviving within Sharia Law were in most case inherited from earlier Christians.

Vest was hatched at the commencment of the 1304 Muslim year.

The commencment of Muslim year 1323 saw the arrival of the first nuclear bomb in New Mexico.

The Commencment of Muslim year 1347
GMT 2100, saw the launch of Apollo 11 Moon landing saga.

If Mohammad had missed his so called fight from Mecca to Medina on 16-7- 622 AD, Maybe the world would be a better place, or would it?

Gerry, i did note that you used a 'cautious' "if" .. heh.

I daresay that anywhere Christianity has a foothold, so does a measure of misogyny. Not enough Christians are content to throw away the Bible and just keep the hippie message of Jesus alive without it.

Or they could save a step, and just throw away the whole thing.

Davo, "if" is a very useful word if used prudently... :-)

Mr Myste, I couldn't have said it better myself.

JM; you must have gathered by now that am not a twit, twat, nor twitterer. Wombat's Waffles IS just that; and wanders along at its own pace. Exclamation marks will not achieve much.
