Dogs are intriguing animals

She is, basically, a free range animal. Interested in her surroundings. She plays with all sorts of animals, including 'American Staffordshire Terriers'. There are snakes and sharks out there ..that she hasn't experienced yet .. heh

Far be it from me to fetter her.

I do, on occasion, put her 'on leash' - if I think that tarmac roads and the inconsistencies of speeding motor vehicles might endanger her life.

Um, odd that.

Nah, seriously. Have been reading "Great working Dog Stories" by Angela Goode and Mike Hayes. Can't claim that mine is a 'great working dog' .. but she seems to know what and how i think.

.. and yes, I edited this post. The girl had an 'altercation' with an American Staffordshire Terrier in Dunedoo. The Staffy ended up with more blood on it, than my rather peaceful Bitzer.

G'day Davo. I think our mini-buses endanger our dogs more too. I've never heard of an alligator or snake killing a dog here.

Would you believe, I've been to Dunedoo! I think there was only one motel then. I loved it.

She's a beauty.

Anne, she is indeed. Am still proud of her.

(though, truth be told, mostly she goes and shits in the grass somewhere a long way from the campsite. There have been occasions when the plastic pantecticon "WannaBrago's" are around - she shits near their doorstwept ).

..heh.

.. AND IT'S NOT ME telling her!! She just deposits *eXtRions where she thinks fit {nah, my supposition).

I struggle with the free range thing. Most folks here think I'm crazy for letting Jake off leash. And that seems crazy to me, for if they can't run a bit on a farm, where can they? He's trained, he comes when called and I watch to be sure he doesn't go near the road. Others assume that because of his breed, he should be strictly a house dog - and his fur makes that desirable. But I can't do it to him. I'd rather keep him close cut (usually an ugly one I do myself) than force him to forgo sniffing and romping.

It seems to me to be a matter of mental health. Spending time outdoors is something he craves. So do I.

But he'd be toast in a fight with another dog.

Hi Hayden .. long time no see.

Yup, all animals (humans included) have a 'free range' spirit. Depends where we see, and relate to, the "top dog" .. heh.
