Was , once upon a time, stunt rider. Falling off horses is easy, falling off horses "on cue" is not so easy.
Thankfully, these days, trip wires are banned, the horses can be "pulled' and are trained to fall. Can't be easy for them, but mostly they survive.
Ever watched those you beaut fillums where somebody points a pistol, perhaps .45 magnum and goes "bang bang"? Bang bang lots.. with one hand, without re-loading? Once upon a long time ago, I had the chance to actually pull the trigger on a .45 magnum. The bloody thing jumped 2 ft vertically, and the recoil nearly broke my collarbone.
Beware of being sucked into hollywood fantasies.

A stunt rider hey? You must have been a pretty tough guy. I don't even like getting on horses, you never know what many of them are going to do, or what will spook them.
Did work in a sheep range one summer as a youth, but those horses were very dependable. One would go out (no rider) and keep the flock together in the evening until it settled down.
I had a .45, it takes some practice to learn to hold them down as much as you can. Movie loads don't have a lot of powder in them, just enough to make a good noise. Or so I was once told.
You know what I love about Hollywood? The way the big shoot-out comes at the end, and the killer has the gun pointed right at the guy, and THEY START TALKING.
Killer: "Now I've got you, you SOB."
Victim: So you think, but Helga's gonna get you back.
Killer: Helga? What does she have to do with this?
On and on. Sorry, but in the real world, when someone's pointing a gun at you, it's not time to talk about Helga.

Surely that depends on whether Helga is the gun owner's wife and whether or not you were slipping her one five minute's previous to his entrance.

Anne, in this part of the world, 'Helga' is a brand of bread .. won't go there, .. heh.

These days, of course, Fantasy is at a new level .. computer graphics .. heh.
i sometimes wonder what would happen if the kiddies of today actually strapped ten tonnes of high powered, high speed machinery to their backs and tried to operate in three (real) dimensions.
(disclaimer, have only ever flown gliders .. no engine to go wrong .. heh).
