The world is like a tree full of monkeys,
All on different limbs at different levels.
Some monkeys are climbing up, some down.
The monkeys on top look down and see a tree full of smiling faces.
The monkeys on the bottom look up and see nothing but assholes.
Pinched from God Uncensored, who found it somewhere else. Have no idea what it actually MEANS, but found it interesting.
Am a "plainsman" meself. The Australian landscape has few tall trees, not much in the way of mountains, and inherently no real concept of monkeys.
It does, though, remind me of a story from Ireland.

A tourist from England wandered onto a wharf where Paddy was catching crabs.
Paddy put the crabs into a bucket .
"Um," sez the tourist, "should you not put a lid on that bucket?"
"Nah, " sez Paddy, "They're Irish crabs. Soon as one tries t' crawl out, t' others will pull 'im back in."

About that Irish crab tale, in Malaysia we substitute Irish with Indian.
Funny post, Davo. I DO know what the monkey story means, and so do you, I'm willing to bet:
The "upper classes" look down on the "working classes" and tell themselves that all are happy, while the "lower classes" look enviously up at the "privileged classes" and hate them.
You knew that!
