Horseracing
Democracy is a bit like betting on the Gee Gees (horses)
Study "the form". (far too many people take a 'punt' on the loser.)
Thankyou for your concern :-) I live in Adelaide, which is about 1500 miles south of Innisfail (North Queensland) .. so weather here is perfect. Balmy, calm, sunny days of autumn (fall). While it was a category 5 cyclone, (stronger than cyclone Tracey which devastated Darwin some time ago) "Larry" caused condiderable damage to the town and surrounding crops (bananas and sugar cane), there has been no reported injury or loss of life.
(am tempted to be slightly snarky, and say that while *our* local, State, and Federal leaders communicate and co-ordinate well, have been fully prepared, and had all the rescue and recovery infrastructure standing by well in advance .. we have a slightly smaller population to deal with, so any attempt to compare it with Katrina is irrelevant.)
Ah, I voted for Nick Xenophon (a feisty independent) in the upper House, who previously nobody gave a rat's arse for .. and suddenly he has an extraordinary number of votes and TWO members of his preference in the upper house.
Correction.. ONE other. An anti-drugs lady who put herself up for election with no real "political" idea, nor skill .. but was carried in by the fervour of Nick Xenophon. Her performance will be judged by how she performs in the real world .. or the "house".
MM, thinks, since i have no "political" skill, but have extensive stage, screen and tv experience....thinks, heh heh heh..

In 'Merica, we Yanks say "Let's punt" when we don't know what to do. It's a term from Yankee football, which is just rugby for sissies.
I really just dropped in to see if everything is okay. (Been reading about the cyclone, and had no idea if you lived north or south.)

We have horse trading in our parliament Devo, the members of parliament are bought and sold.
I think Democracy is a hoax, some body will get in but nothing will change, we're all sailing to hell in a tea kettle!
