where are all the fish

Yer, i know - can be referred back to some sort of 'religious' philosophical thingo. Nup not my bag,

there has been some sort of discussion among the the populace about whether the "super trawler" should be 'allowed' to operate within Australian territorial waters.

Apparently the 'discussion' has been ongoing between the "Gummint" and the "Enterprise" for some seven years.

The "populace" has only recently been 'notified'.

My 'immediate' (and continuing) thought is "NO WAY" (you'd have to research, see and understand what this 'super trawler' represents .. it's not a simple "Them vs Us" .. more along the lines of 'profit vs subsistence'.

Yers, there is "political mileage" about the local Gummint 'suddenly' deciding the 'defer' permission for this commercial 'enterprise' .

However, think on this.

"commercial" enterprise has despoiled a large proportion of the available arable landmass on this planet.

The Ocean is the only sustainable source of food remaining.

Are we, as humans, willing to despoil that, also?

.. and yes, perhaps 'anecdotal' not 'scientific' watched the destruction of the mangroves in  SE Queensland between the years 1988  and 1999 - ten years.

The mangroves are the 'breeding ground', the 'nursery' of fish.

So if ya wanna argue - tell me your  experience 'credentials'.

A simple solution is to kill a bunch of us so there isn't a need for so much food.

Billy B, i worry about that sort of 'attitude'.

So, and this is a philosophical 'attitude'.

If, perchance, I 'didn't like you'; I had the resources to turn up, sneakily, on your doorstep with a shotgun and 'blew your head off' -

Would you think this attitude Valid?

I am not an expert on the matters of the fishing industry. However, much has been said in the past about the non sustainability of the fishing industry, and then this monster trawler comes on the scene to deplete fish stocks even more so, together with a loss of income predicted for Australian professional fishermen. Not a great Idea unless you are the owners of the huge trawler.
Anyhow, where will or would said trawler land its catch. Japan, China or would it be compelled to offload in Australia?

It's just the reality of over population. If we don't get a handle on it nature will.

Yes, I would find it valid, but being as I'm well armed it may be you leaving instead of me.

Welcome to earth, third rock from the sun, deal with it.

BBC Obviously you are not a robot, then again you could be.

It was accidently typed in with the comment, dig?.

BBC said...

Ah, accidents I understand. Especially in english being as it's a piece of shit.

BBC: No one can be as calculatedly rude as the British, which amazes Americans, who do not understand studied insult and can only offer abuse as a substitute.

BBC said...

Ah, Vest may be correct, what in the hell would I know about studied insults when I can just abuse others with insults?

Tch tch. Settle; boyos. Methinks we're vaguely on the the same side.

(um, perhaps not on the same side of the equator - interesting thought - which 'side' does one actually 'fight' for) ????

and yep, Vestie - throw some bait, and something will bite.
