remaining afloat

Yep, another non-committal and brief post.

A friend of mine recently purchased a kayak. We took it to a nearby section of 'dam-ed' water.

Neither of us became seriously wet.

That's cool, I've never been in one. But damn near put myself in the drink when I over powered a 12 foot canoe type boat with a square stern, when that bitch hit plane it spooked the hell out of me and I backed off the throttle too fast and the water hitting the front side of the prop started twisting the boat over.

But also twisted the motor off the stern so I lost that new motor the first time out cuz I forgot to bolt it down with safety bolts.

Um, Billy B, methinks we remembered to take, and wear 'life jackets' . this time. Dunno about the next experiment - when the plan is to see what happens when we deliberately "roll over" in a kayak.

Should be interesting.

Hey Billy B; same friend of mine just asked me to go to Sydney and collect another one. Freaky. last time that had been in control of a motor vehicle in a "big city" was about 40 year ago. Whoo hoo!

Re the Marmots Hole. Trying to post a comment on said blog is difficult to say the least with its restricted access. Anyhow the main thing I wished to point out being a Korean Vet is most commentors don't know one Gook from another. For those dimwits who cocked up please note the opposing sides in Korea were the South Koreans and allies (not all from unclesamland) plus numerous other nations too. The aggressors were North Korea and Sino Allies.

I recall as a 25 yr old a punchup with a VC and Bar Cpl in the Brittania Club in Singapore early 53. Both of us pissed to the gills. The name Speakman comes to mind - later demoted to private.

umm ... 'demoted to private', heh, that's me. Did raise an interesting thought, though, when i read it. Does that mean anyone in the military with 'arm stripes' or pips (chips?) on shoulders remain "public"?
