Histories

This is a sort of adjunct to the previous post which was, obviously, written previously. Has, in fact, taken several weeks to get as far as it has. Am not a "speed writer", nor thinker .. heh.

Also, am becoming fascinated by "histories". Have just been for a quick visit to the local museum .. from the outside it just looks like the usual country town "converted hall" and gives the impression of holding a few ancient farm implements. Not so, am amazed by the wealth of material within. Must look further into it.

Many a city museum curator had ground his/her teeth in frustration at the wealth of objects in country museums that cannot be bought for love nor money ;)

Not only the local Museums, Jayne, but our entire "historical" context. Can't write much about it "in depth" at the moment, 'cos am on and off the internet, but would like to, and have previously, rabbit on at length about our local Aus film industry. There are so many, so many "heroes' that we never hear much about nor see on TV or Film. Oh yes, we've seen some, but without adequate finance and support, tend to be sparse and second-rate.

Pet peeve of mine.

We've had a "local" incident the other Sat. night where Sir Sydney Kidman "lost his head" .. someone stole the head off the bronze bust near the Post Office. While I had heard of him .. never really knew the details of his life, trials, tribulations and successes. Will try to post something about it (and him) before next weekend.

Am still trying to research something about Reg, though .. Aah, time, you old Gypsy man ..

What kind of history's? A lot of history is bullshit, written by those that wanted it to look the way they wanted it to look. It's just all monkey shit in the ruts of time and space behind us when what these monkeys should be doing is looking to the future. Only the future is what matters.

And where the next beer is coming from. Hugs.

Might agree with you about "written" history Billy B, but standing next to a bloody big double action steam engine manufactured about 100 yards away just around the corner alters the mindset, somehow.

um, must b time fer another beer, brewed some distance away .. heh.

I don't give a shit where it was brewed as long as it's cheap and I can drink it.
