The Blue Rose

This is a Blue Rose. It's a BLUE ROSE I tell ya. It's MINE!.

Am going to claim Breeder's/growers Prize fer it.

Don't believe me? .. well, It's MY blog, and I'M in charge here!! Ya hafta BELIEVE me. So THERE!!

Am just following the example of the leadership of this magnificent Nation of Australia.

[it all depends on the definition of “blue” and on how much information/facts are presented to make a case, I guess. Apparently poor Mohamed Haneef , gaoled without charge for weeks, released on bail by a magistrate after a trumped up charge didn't quite provide enough evidence to warrant further detention .. now re-interred into Villawood detention centre via “Ministerial decree” - is guilty of ..

WHAT, exactly?? Holding an airline ticket out of Australia to visit his wife and newborn child? Upholding the “Family Values” so much lauded by Howard?]

Am beginning to wonder just who – or what - the AFP (Australian Federal Police) think they are .. or who they think they serve .. incompetence? Agenda driven?

Can't think of an international equivalent. FBI + MI5 in uniform? Police Academy 07? It's all turning into a bittuva farce, really.

Actually, it's a good ploy though.. The uniform is very similar to that of the several independent local State police forces, lulls the punters into a false sense of security .. but are not constrained by “normal” restrictions relating to “laws of evidence” or separation of the “Judicial” from the “Politics”, apparently.

Larvatus Prodeo

Barista

and Senator Andrew Bartlett has some detail..

(Addendum: damn, this post began because I was interested in the blue rose, but is becoming increasingly sidetracked by the Haneef case. One comment on Barista mentioned that rural areas are dependent on "foreign trained" doctors, and that this may cause a few of them to think twice before coming here.

Lord only knows we need many many more of them out there. Was also listening to a program on radio today which mentioned that most of the doctors who "volunteered" for the "medical" part of Howard's "íntervention" in Aboriginal lands are "foreign trained". Dunno where that leaves everything.)

(Addendum 2: Saturday morn. Apparently Dr Haneef has some clever lawyers, who refused to post bail, thus keeping him in the "legal" system, and out of the dubious "political detention" system.)

(Addendum 3: Saturday,1442. Damn, now have to take careful note of what "Commissioner" Mick Keelty of the AFP says when he's wearing full uniform, and what he says on the rare occasion when interviewers catch him in suit and tie .. or, Howard forbid, an open neck shirt [that link is irrelevant, was looking for something else].)

By the way, the pic IS of a rose (genus rosa, probably a "tea" but not a hybrid "floribunda") found in the back garden of a house, belonging to a customer, that has been empty for about six months (details readily supplied via due process); and is the closest, apparently, to a naturally occurring “blue”. If the house isn't sold by the time I get there next time.. might just take a bucket and a shovel, secretly "re-locate" the rootstock, but making sure that my SIM card is safely locked away.. heh.

Backgrounds ..

Couldn't agree more on the Haneef situation - makes my blood boil.

And I love the colour of the rose :)

Thanks for the visit, Tanya.
(also have to admit that have "tinted" the first pic, slightly, but the other two are just as they came out of the camera -- and whatever colour bias the computer imparts on the way through to blogger images -- just to keep the facts in the open .. heh.)

I think that rose is called "Blue Moon". I had one growing but like everything else except the ivy, I managed to kill it.
