And yes, there are many places that will give you pics of the 'lastest', 'most supersonic' aircraft.

i just happen to like the gliders. Waikerie, circa 1980.

Dear Wombat, is that top graphic really you? You look so blissful.

Miss E, yup, that's me.. Icarus re-visited .. heh.
Hayden, they are are 'line-up' of the Astir series of gliders. If I remember rightly, the first one is an Astir Cirrus.

The third pic is of a Walrus, A2-1. One of the first designs at "amphibious" aircraft, used as 'spotters' by battleships in WW1. They could 'launched' from a short ramp, but could only be retrieved by crane .. if conditions were comfortable. Many were lost.

The fourth is a B24 Liberator 'heavy' bomber circa WW2. England desperately needed her Lancasters for the war in Europe, so Australia had to settle for 'second best'.

P.S. pic 2 taken by me, pic 3 from my grandfather's collection.

Kathy, ask yourself this question. Would, or could, you walk along a plank 2 foot wide 50 yards long, placed on the ground.

OK kathy, perhaps that was a bad example. A better question would be .. Would, could, or do you ride a bicyle, or drive a motor vehicle on a public road. If so, the chances, odds, are that you will be involved in a serious collision at some point. The difference between pilots and drivers of motor vehicles, is that pilots are (mostly) trained to handle their vehicle.

As the saying goes .. "there are bold pilots, and Old pilots..but there are no 'Old', bold pilots."

Take a flight with your uncle. If he hasn't killed himself by now, there's a good chance that he won't kill you either. (wry grin)
